Sustainability, but for whom, or for what?
This question is central to the lab, as it makes obvious that sustainability in its singular form privileges a singular community and approach. This lab encourages the creation of a multitude of sustainabilities, bringing many communities and ways of being together in time.
Why sustainabilities and not resiliences?
Sustainability/ies signifies sustenance and nourishment. And these, in turn, suggest key practices such as care, solidarity, and recuperation.
Sustainabilities Lab asks experimenters to test the boundaries of these concepts and practices––in what ways do they encourage sustainabilities; in what ways might they be exhausted and in need of regeneration? We will explore these things through hands-on engagement with new and old forms of environmental making, from agroecology to solar energy.
